Blocked Fallopian Tubes
Blocked Fallopian Tubes Treatment
Fallopian tubes refer to female reproductive organsfallopian-tube which attach the ovaries
and the uterus. These are two thin muscular tubes, one on each side of the uterus. It helps the mature
eggs to travel from the ovaries to the uterus. When an obstruction disallows the mature eggs to travel
down towards the uterus from the ovaries, then the woman is considered as she has a tubal blockage or
blocked fallopian tube.
Also, it is possible that blockage doesn’t occur completely, but only moderately. Then it may increase
the chances of tubal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. These days Fallopian Tube Obstruction is very
common and majorly become the cause of infertility in infertile women.
It may occur either one of the sides or both the sides and today it has become the cause of
infertility in 40% of infertile women.
Note: “Tuberculosis (very common in India) is a very common cause of Tubal Blockage.”

How Infertility is caused by Tubal Blockage?
Each month, during the ovulation, an egg is released from one of the ovaries. The egg
travels from the ovaries through fallopian tubes to the uterus. The sperm is also required
to swim towards the egg from the cervix through uterus, and through the tubes. The process
of fertilization generally takes place while the egg is traveling through a tube.
When there is a tubal blockage in one or both the tubes, the egg gets obstructed reaching
the uterus and the sperm gets obstructed reaching the egg, thus, preventing the fertilization
process and pregnancy.
What are the Symptoms of Fallopian Tube Obstruction?
Generally, there are no symptoms found for blocked fallopian tubes. Even women having
tubal blockage don’t know that they have blocked fallopian tubes until they try to achieve
pregnancy and find a problem during investigation.
In some women, a blocked fallopian tube may show symptoms like pain in the pelvis or belly.
The pain might occur regularly during the time of periods. It also happens sometimes that
a fertilized egg is obstructed due to the tubal blockage, which is known as Ectopic pregnancy.
An Ectopic pregnancy probably not always shows symptoms, it is identified after a scan.
Though, some women may experience signs of pregnancy such as pain in stomach on the one
side of the body or vaginal bleeding.
How to Diagnose a Fallopian Tube Obstruction?
